Consumers are increasingly eager to know the source of their purchases to understand their social impact. We are launching GIA® Source Verification Service to meet this demand. In doing so, our goal is to empower consumers to make informed choices and ensure that they feel confident when purchasing diamonds, these classic symbols of love and celebration.
A Service as Transparent as Your Diamonds
GIA is committed to providing source information for the diamonds we grade – whether natural or laboratory-grown – to increase transparency and further our mission of consumer protection.
This service will verify the country where natural diamonds were mined and laboratory-grown diamonds were produced by leveraging existing processes based on third-party verified documents, including Kimberley Process certificates and invoices provided by diamond manufacturers and others in the supply chain. This optional service will be offered at no additional cost and the source information will be easily accessed exclusively through GIA’s online Report Check service.
