Mission Forward

Our mission of ensuring the public trust in gems has driven us for nearly a century.

An independent nonprofit, we have proudly protected millions of consumers and educated each “next generation” since 1931.

Now more than ever, we are committed to serving the public through the relentless pursuit of research, education, and laboratory innovation. And as we look to the future, we stand ready to advance our industry towards a more sustainable tomorrow by protecting the very earth and communities that produce the treasures we love.

Together, we can make a lasting impact.

Visit GIA at JCK Las Vegas to discover how we’re unfolding a digital future.

In a show-stopping move, we are evolving our industry-leading resources by taking all GIA reports digital by 2025. This launch will be accompanied by enhanced security for your diamonds’ identity. Using the reimagined GIA App and the new GIA Match iD, you can easily verify that your diamond comes with an authentic GIA report. See live demonstrations at our booth and also learn about the new GIA® Source Verification Service and the GIA Alumni Collective. Stop by booth #15031 to see the future unfold.

GIA Origin Services

Know your diamond’s origin with the GIA Diamond Origin Program and GIA® Source Verification Service. Both offer peace-of-mind and confidence during the purchase process.

Sessions

GIA Diamond Origin Program

This program uses scientific matching to link polished diamonds to diamond crystals of known origin, so that you know exactly where your diamond came from. When a diamond crystal of known origin is sent to GIA, GIA scientists document its characteristics. After the crystal is cut, our experts examine each polished diamond to determine if it matches the original crystal. If it does, the scientist then records the polished diamond’s country of origin.

GIA® Source Verification Service

This service will provide source information on where natural diamonds were mined and laboratory-grown diamonds were produced. It accomplishes this by leveraging existing processes based on third-party verified documents, including Kimberley Process certificates. This optional service will be offered at no additional cost.
